The moment I met you (Chapter 68)

      By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

‘Sir, you know Madam Jessica came from rich family and she’s also your fiancée… treating her that way isn’t right.’

‘When did you become Mother Teresa? He looked at Robert with dismay. ‘Robert, don’t you think Jessica is very beautiful? Is she not your type?’ He asked in a mocking tone.

Robert shrugged. ‘Is she really that beautiful? I don’t think so!’ He pointed to Chioma’s photo. ‘But I think that this girl is really beautiful. She is your type.’ Robert had actually mocked Chioma’s beauty in his head as he said the words, which he did not quite mean.  Even though Robert didn’t want to admit it, Chioma wasn’t that ugly. Yes, she was not as breathtaking as Jessica but she has a uniqueness that led other people to her. But she was a lowly woman which was a huge gap between Chioma and Michael. Perhaps, Robert was of the view that Michael should have high standard when it comes to someone he should love. Jessica was qualified in the eyes of many while Chioma wasn’t even qualified to clean Michael’s shoes let alone qualified to be his fiancée.

Shooting Robert a glare, Michael said, ‘Why do I feel as though you don’t really like Chioma?’ He was annoyed. ‘You dare to look down on my woman? Did you know that she is worth more than you?’

‘She’s the most intelligent girl in the world,’ Robert said gently, trying to curry favour. He didn’t want to provoke his boss. ‘There’s no woman who is better looking than Chioma Chima. I could even bring you to the restaurant where she works as a waitress.’

‘You may go.’ Michael gestured at him to leave.

‘I’ll go ahead, boss, ‘Robert said, and turned to go.
