Gracefully,
she descended the stairs. She was wearing a long dress, so she decided to be
careful with the shopping bags she was carrying, so she wouldn’t fall or
stumble. But just as she was about reaching the last step, she stepped on her
dress and almost fell, and just like in romance movies a strong arm came around
her waist and saved her.
Audrey
was curious to see who had been swift enough to catch her from falling, looking
up; her eyes met a pair of dark eyes, and warm smile.
‘Are you all right, Miss?’
Asked Daniel, who was standing in front of her. Daniel had gone to the restroom,
and heading back to meet with his group that where waiting at the café, he
rushed over when he saw Audrey about to stumble. He had saved her from falling,
and Audrey was grateful for that. Audrey wondered who he was. He was wearing a
casual shirt and trouser he had bought from a road stall. She could see that
the man wasn’t rich but he was good looking even in his cheap clothes. He was
tall, handsome and smelled of cologne.
‘Yes,
yes... I am fine…’Audrey replied. ‘Thanks.’
‘I’m
glad to hear that,’ Daniel smiled before turning around to leave.
‘Who could
he be?’ Audrey muttered as she stared at his back while he walked away. He was
very good looking. She wondered if he was already taken, and who was the lucky
girl? Taking a deep breath, she strolled towards her car.
Putting
her purchases into the car and about to head for the driver’s seat, her eyes
caught sight of Daniel at the entrance. She paused when she saw him. He was the
man that had saved her. He couldn’t be
Chioma’s beau, could he? She thought when she saw Chioma walking along side
with him, laughing. Then, her gaze shifted towards Chisom who was walking
behind them. Audrey felt a bit relieved when she saw Chisom, for she felt that
it could have been a friendly shopping, nothing more. Was she falling for
Daniel? Suddenly, she found herself walking towards them.
