After taking his bath and changing into a set of clothes, Felix decided to stroll at the gardens. He had a glass of wine in his hand. When he passed the water fountain, he saw Audrey eating pomegranate alone, he hesitated for a moment before walking over to where she sat on a bench.
Sensing that someone was there, Audrey took bites of her juicy pomegranate before turning to see Felix staring at her, but he had no intention of speaking. He knew his sister too well. Something was bothering her, he could sense it. Felix took a sip from his wine glass. Then, as though to start up a conversation, he said in a soothing voice, ‘My beautiful sister has never been a quiet girl except she has something bothering her. Perhaps, the guys you met today at the mall all had crush on you. It’s settled you can pick any of them as your escort.’
Audrey let out a grunt at what he said and stood up to leave.
Felix didn’t stop her but slowly and leisurely he turned around, staring at her retreating back. Then, with his lips curved into a smirk, he added, ‘and that man could have been the one that caught you when you were about to fall.’
Audrey stopped in her tracks, but didn’t turn to look at him. Instead, she wondered how he knew about it.
Felix raised his glass to his lips and took a sip. He wore his most winning smile which could melt anyone’s heart. Facing Audrey’s back, he said, ‘When you were about to fall, and just like magic seen in romance series, he came from nowhere and held you… if you’re wondering how I knew, then, I guess your thinking is lame. Gossips fly around, especially now that everyone is looking for scoop to write and say…’
Audrey stood on the spot for a second or more before turning slowly to look at Felix.
Felix smiled and swirled the wine glass in his hand. ‘Don’t worry, I got your back.’
Audrey let out a smile, understanding what he meant by that.
