The moment I met you (Chapter 166)

  By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

After dinner at Chisom’s, she cleared the dishes, her parents went to their room while Daniel went to take his shower. When Chisom was done with the washing up, she went to Daniel’s room with the intention of sleeping with her brother today. Daniel was used to his sister’s childish ways sometimes, and didn’t mind seeing her sleeping in the same room with him anytime she so pleases.

Coming out of the bathroom, Daniel wore his blue floral pyjamas and went straight to sit in front of his laptop, he turned it on.  Chisom lay on the bed playing with her phone. The room was silent besides the buzzing emitting from the computer.

Glancing at the clock, Daniel saw that it was almost eleven thirty in the night; he turned off his computer, then laid out a mattress and lay down on the floor while Chisom was already fast asleep on the bed. He covered her with a blanket before lying down.

Everywhere was quiet now. Daniel stared into the darkness as his thought flashed towards the scene where he saved Audrey from falling; his face broke into a smile as he enjoyed the silence of his thought. Then finally, he drifted off to sleep.

Midway through his sleep, it began to pour. Daniel woke up, listening to the thunder which struck and the flashing lightining. Instead of the fierce weather to dampen Daniel’s mood, he began to think how wonderful it would be to play love rain scene with Audrey. He had some days ago confessed to Chioma but he felt that it was his ex-girlfriends hurt that drove him to do that. Yes, he would admit to love Chioma very well, but then, he felt that his love for her was the same he had for Chisom. Besides, she was already taken by someone at the pinnacle of power. But for Audrey, he felt his heart beat fast at the thought of her. That night, he slept with a hint of a smile. Perhaps, he was hopeful.
