The Moment I Met You (Chapter 565)

By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

Celine was asleep when the door opened. Catherine shuffled around in the dark, not wanting to wake Celine she didn’t turn on the light.

‘Cath,’ Celine rasped.

‘Go back to sleep,’ Catherine whispered.

‘Hey. My elder brother called. I think I might be leaving for Nigeria for my cousin's surprise party. I’ll want you to tag along. Is that okay with you?’

Catherine paused in her track. ‘Yeah,’ Catherine said softly. ‘Is it okay with your boyfriend to have me tag along with you guys?’

‘I think so,’ Celine said.

‘Okay.’ Catherine pulled off her shoes. ‘So tired today,’ she murmured.

‘What made you so tired?’Celine asked staring up into the darkness. ‘Did you have your brain fried?’ she teased Catherine.

‘I had lots of fun places to go with my course mates. We pulled faces while clicking photos,’ Catherine laughed lightly.

Celine rolled over and pulled her comforter up tight. ‘Better for you,’ she breathed.

Catherine nodded and went to her room to pick up her homework from her desk, then she returned back to Celine’s room. Catherine was sitting at Celine’s desk when she woke up.

‘You’re awake?’

‘Have you been watching me sleep?’

‘Yes, sleeping beauty. I had to do my homework here. So, are you awake?’

 ‘No,’ Celine pouted.

‘Well, wake up. We need to go to D-hall for dinner.’

Celine sat up, rubbing sleep from her eyes. ‘

Ooh, how could you just wake me like this? When did I become your foodie partner?’

‘That’s because Prince will reprimand me for not bringing you to D-hall.’

‘Okay…’ Celine couldn’t help but smile a little, just hearing his name. Prince was someone she would never grow tired of.

‘So you planned with my boyfriend to drag me to D-hall?’

‘No.’

‘Did he come while I was asleep?’

‘Nope, I had to mention his name just to make you smile.’ Catherine laughed lightly. She was sitting on Celine’s chair with one leg tucked under the other, wearing a Nike T-shirt and black jeans. ‘I’m not gonna let you go hungry. So, stand up and let’s go.’

Celine slowly got out of bed, grabbed her jacket from the couch and headed for the door with Catherine following behind.

Celine had already gotten along with the people living in Apley Court so when they saw Celine and her roommate, most of them waved cheerfully.

Celine looked at Catherine, at her beautiful long redhead and her full lips and her slender figure. ‘I feel like my sister will be happy to see you.’

Catherine smiled. ‘Well, I’ll love to see her too.’

‘You’ve got lovely hair,’ Celine said to Catherine when they sat down to eat.

‘I think you should wear your hair down,’ Celine suggested, taking a bite of cottage cheese.

‘I’m not going out on a date,’ Catherine said, tearing a piece of pizza in half.‘I’ll have to think about that if you’re taking me out on a date.’                                                                                                                                   ‘Don’t you have a boyfriend?’ Celine asked.

‘I had a boyfriend in my high school but we broke up during our graduation, it was pretty awful.  We had attended Washington D.C’s Sidwell Friends School... He hasn’t dated anyone since we broke up.’

‘Do you hope to rekindle your love?’

‘No.’ Catherine looked away, sounding almost angry about it. ‘He was the one that decided to end things with me.’

Celine wanted to make her friend happy so she leaned across the table and grabbed the rose hair clip out of Catherine’s hair. It fell down her shoulders.

‘There,’ Celine smiled. ‘Now you look more like a super model.’

‘Celine,’ Catherine laughed, grabbing her hair clip from Catherine       and immediately twisting her hair back up. ‘I don’t want to be a super model,’ she said jokingly.

Celine rolled her eyes. ‘You sound as though you’re beautiful to be a super model. You look more like the flying squirrels.’

The thought of the story behind the flying squirrel made Celine giggle, looking beautiful in her intramural- football T- shirt and pale blue jeans.
