The moment I met you (Chapter 52)

 By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

‘Thank you for your time… pay 2000 to your boss and keep the change for yourself.’ Before Chioma could refuse the money or ask any question, the girl was gone.

Chioma was shocked. Audrey was supposed to pay 2000 naira for the meal, but had given 10,000 naira. Chioma wondered why this girl whom she had never met before tipped her 8000 naira for her own spending. Audrey was in her late teens or perhaps early 20s.  The girl must be from a rich family. No poor person will throw away money like this! Chioma thought. It was just a simple dish of fried rice, nothing special. Some people are generous.

Not having the courage to take the money, she decided to tell her boss about it. She brought the 10,000 to Emeka who was talking to a customer. Chioma waited patiently for the boss to finish speaking with the customer before talking to him about the generous tip.

Chioma gave him the money but Emeka refused to take it.

‘This is my first time of seeing a customer doing a huge give away,’ Emeka chuckled. ‘But you have to take it because the customer gave it to you. It’s yours. Don’t be afraid to spend it.’

Chioma nodded with a sweet smile, and turned around to meet the chubby customer who was asking her to come and take his order.
