The moment I met you (Chapter 53)

By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

In the magnificent CEO office of the Moon Corporation, Michael sat on his leather chair spinning his fountain pen between his fingers while he fixed his eyes on the file that was open in front of him. It was obvious he hadn’t read a word on the file. His mind was preoccupied. Dropping the pen accidentally, he picked it up and continued to spin it.

After he spun it, he didn’t realise when he wrote; Chioma Chima with exclamation marks all over the financial report that he needed to sign until Robert knocked on the door.

‘What’s wrong with me?’ Michael mumbled. He quickly picked up the file and tore it into pieces. Tossing them into the trash can, he looked up at Robert and said, ‘Tell the financial manager to make another report.’

‘Yes, boss,’ Robert said, placing a thick pile of files on the desk. ‘Sir, these are the proposals from the three companied I told you earlier. You would have to examine them properly before signing.’

Michael nodded without uttering a word.

‘Sir, during the board meeting today I noticed that your mind wandered far away during the meeting. From the time you walked into the conference room until the meeting ended you only said ‘shall we begin’ and never uttered any word again… it appeared as if you were paying attention to the meeting when in fact, your mind was 3000 miles away. Sir, is everything all right?’

‘I never believed in monitoring spirits until now. Are you into gossip now? Perhaps, you are tired of living, huh?’ Michael gave Robert a cold glare.

Robert was concerned about his boss and wanted to know what could be bothering him but hearing the tone in Michael’s voice, Robert didn’t dare continue with the topic.
