The moment I met you (Chapter 55)

    By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

Hearing Felix’s happy voice call his name Michael smiled.

‘Felix, what about coming to the office instead?’

‘Oh, are you busy with signing documents?’ Felix chuckled, from the other end of the phone.

‘You rarely call me when you were in the states…’

Felix laughed. ‘Was that why you didn’t pick me up from the airport? It was a good thing Audrey came.’

‘I didn’t come because…’

‘Because Jessica would want to come along?’ Felix continued for him, laughing. ‘She has become a thing around your neck. I’m sure she will never let you go. You’ll have to deal with it,’ he paused after a while, then said again, ‘I missed you cousin. I hope I’m not disturbing your work.’

‘No. it’s just a phone call. It’s not a big deal.’

Michael didn’t tell Felix that his mind had been preoccupied with something else. Perhaps, he would do that when they see face to face.

‘I will be in the office tomorrow.’

‘That’s good.’

Hanging up, Michael picked up his glass of wine and took a giant sip before settling himself on his chair and began working on the files Robert had brought to his office. He appeared relaxed now after speaking with Felix.

Along Umara Musa Yar’adua road a black Land Rover was seen racing towards Nnamdi Azikwe international airport. When the car finally arrived at the airport, they saw a tall gorgeously dressed man walking out from the exit hall.  Sure enough, he was Edward Njemanze. The driver slowly drove up to him and parked the car.
