Once Chioma got home from work, she was too lazy to move, so she crashed onto the armchair in the living room. Right after that moment, her phone suddenly began to ring. Chioma picked it up at once before she saw who was calling. It was Chisom, her best friend.
‘Hey, Chisom.’
‘Have you arrived yet?’
‘Yeah, I just arrived. Segun brought me home.’
‘Daniel just arrived from Lagos,’ said Chisom excitedly.
‘Did he come back with buckets of cash?’ Chioma smiled tiredly.
‘Of course. We are going to rip him off a little,’ Chisom said with a light laugh.
Chioma yawned. ‘See you tomorrow,’ she said and hung up.
After Chioma hung up, she turned to her mother. ‘Chisom’s brother is back.’
‘Maybe you can consider marrying him. Your brother is dating Chisom. Is only right for you to marry her elder brother. With that both families will make perfect in law…’
‘Mum....’
‘I know you don’t love Daniel… your mind is longing for someone else, perhaps?’Louisa paused, and then said, Dinner is ready.’
Chioma scratched her head as she got up to head to the dining. She tried her best not to think of Michael. She wanted to erase him from her memory, at least now she was at home. But was she going to do without thinking about him? If only her mother would stop questioning her she might try not to think about him tonight.
‘Chioma, how much longer will you keep Daniel waiting?’ Louisa asked, putting food on Chioma’s plate.
