Audrey’s face was full of smile as she nodded. As Chioma was about to turn away, Audrey said, ‘I want you to do something for me.’
Chioma looked at her and asked, ‘what is it ma’am?
Audrey hand a wad of cash to her while nodding. ‘My sister has dismissed from school. But you see, I’m so tired and don’t have the strength to collect her from school. Can you do that for me?’
Is that all?’ Chioma asked with an air of wanting to do anything for Audrey because shehad been good to her. She would have to take permission from Emeka.
Audrey laughed mischievously and blurted out, ‘you’ll find Mr. handsome.’Stunned,
Chioma looked at her in puzzlement. It turned out that she wanted to pair her
brother Felix with Chioma. Audrey had genuinely like Chioma and she wished
Chioma would be her brother’s girlfriend.
Afraid that Chioma would suspect
something, Audrey put on air of excitement as though it was just a casual thing
that she had said.
‘Which school?’
‘Diamond
snow secondary school… my younger sister Celine goes there.’
That had been the same school Michael
had attended. She recalled the group of girls saying that. She glanced at
Audrey in confusion. What trick was she trying to play? The look
on Audrey’s eyes was innocent and charming. Audrey wouldn’t hurt her. But what
trick was she playing at?
Chioma sighed slightly. ‘ I will help
you. But just this once.’
Audrey
smiled, reaching out to hug her.
