The moment I met you (Chapter 80)

By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

 ‘Just like ogiri?’

chioma didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.

‘Don’t worry I didn’t come from the moon… go on and bring the dish for me. I’m starving.’

Chioma went out and returned with a tray of hot steaming bowl of ofe ede, another plate for akpu, a jug of water and a washing bowl. She placed them before Audrey.

Audrey quickly washed her hands, and then dug in, her eyes widened from the deliciousness.  She ate the food with relish, like it was her favourite dish.  And in a couple of minutes, Audrey finished the dish, and was happily chewing the snail in her mouth.

Audrey poured herself a glass of water. Glancing at the clock, she saw that it was almost two o’clock in the afternoon. At this moment, a thought came into her mind. She waved at chioma who was serving a customer. Chioma finished attending to her and went to Audrey.

‘I finished the dish.’ Audrey was excited about it. Then, she reached for the perfume in her handbag and pulled it out.

Chioma was shocked when she saw the perfume.

‘CR7…’ Audrey glanced at Chioma. ‘this perfume was produced by Cristiano Ronaldo…I shopped them online… here.’ She took hold of chioma’s hand and gently placed the bottle into her palm before she would refuse to take it. ‘That perfume is the best to apply after eating akpu,’ Audrey said with a smile.

‘Don’t feel embarrassed. Just take it. It’s my tip.’

‘But ma…’

‘No buts… take it.’

‘Thank you.’
