The moment I met you (Chapter 201)

  By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

Before Chioma could speak, Audrey was already at the door. She turned back to look at Chioma, and with a smile, she said, ‘Good bye…and be there.’

Chioma bit her lower lip, forced a smile at Audrey, and said, ‘Okay.’

Audrey pushed the door open and left.

The following day, Audrey headed for Chisom’s, wearing a red sweater with a scalloped neckline, and she paired it with beige wide-leg trousers, adding red pumps, gold earrings and a Chanel handbag. She was looking grand in her outfit. She would always look grand in whatever outfit she wore.

Pulling in front of Chisom’s house, Audrey sighed with a smile. This was her second time of being in a poor area like this. Yesterday, she had visited Chioma. The area might look poor but she could see the excitement around the neighbourhood. She truly loved such excitement emanating from this neighbourhood.

Looking at the luxury invitation cards, she wondered how Daniel would react if she knocked on the door because she hadn’t given him a prior notice that she was coming over. She hadn’t seen him for a half a month now, but she was certain he was around because Chioma helped her with asking Daniel if he was at home, but she didn’t tell him the reason and Daniel didn’t bother to ask because she knew Chioma visited often. She was like being a part of the Onuoha family.

Audrey was happy she was going to invite him for her birthday and would also beg him to be her escort as he was the only man qualified to be her escort. She smiled at her thought.

Audrey turned off the engine of her car and elegantly stepped out. She walked up to the door and knocked. When Daniel answered, his face shone brightly as their eyes met. Then he flushed. ‘Audrey.’ He called her name in a whisper.

‘May I come in? I need to talk to you,’Audrey said. ‘But first I want to apologise for coming without letting you know.’

Daniel smiled and shook his head. ‘Please, don’t apologise. I should have brought you before now. I’m sorry.’
