‘No, I should have phoned you. I’m sorry too.’
‘I’m glad you came. I’ve miss…’he paused, letting his sentence hang in the air.
He didn’t complete his sentence, yet Audrey understood at once what he wanted to say. She smiled sweetly at him.
Daniel opened the door wider. ‘Come in. please.’
Audrey stepped inside with her beautiful face full of smile. Then, she said, ‘I’ve missed you.’
Yes, Audrey missed him. Daniel was filled with love and happiness as he heard the pleasing words from Audrey.
‘Have a seat. I’ll get you some iced cola.’Daniel’s words were soft that Audrey had to smile.
Audrey sat quietly in the living room, glancing around at the cosy room. Daniel walked into the kitchen to get the iced cola from the fridge.
‘Daniel?’ Beatrice, his mother said surprised to still see him at home. He was supposed to go to his shop to meet with an important client, why was he back? ‘What are you still doing here? You could lose your customer if you still stay here to drink iced cola?’
Daniel was in a smart pale blue dress, his peaked car tucked beneath one arm. ‘Mama, Audrey came to visit,’Daniel said awkwardly.
‘Uh, oh, the rich princess you fell in love with?’Beatrice smiled.
‘Mmm,’Daniel nodded, closing the fridge with his leg. He went back to the living room as Beatrice followed behind, curious to see how Audrey looked in real-life.
Audrey smiled at Beatrice, as she stood up and extended her slender hand. ‘Ma’am…I’ve been looking forward to meet you.’
‘You wanted to see me? Why did you say it loud? I’m sure Daniel who had been looking forward to bring you over would have been on cloud nine,’Beatrice jovially said as she shook Audrey’s hand as though it was made of porcelain.
