The moment I met you (Chapter 264)

By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

‘Hello? Chioma, do you need help…Don’t tell me you bumped into Felix and now you are giving me SOS,’Chisom laughed.

‘Chisom, I’m almost reaching The Johnsons filling station. I don’t know how I managed to get here but I know that I’m being followed by at least ten men dressed in black coat. Please send Stanley to come and investigate. I can’t find his number in my phone.’

‘It’s really an SOS,’Chisom breathed. ‘Stanley received a call and headed out. I don’t know where.’

‘Okay,’Chioma breathlessly panted as she hung up and ran towards a supermarket. She wanted to head for Andrew’s workshop but had decided against it. She didn’t want to put her brother in danger while trying to save her own life.

‘Hurry up and get her,’ a tall broad shouldered man ordered angrily. ‘Catch her!’

Chioma gasped. Why do they want to catch me? What could have been my crime?  Beads of sweat appeared on Chioma’s forehead as she kept running.

Meanwhile at Star Restaurant, Chisom who was preparing to go home became anxious as to how Chioma was doing. She immediately rang Stanley who was at Dantata Bridge for an investigation with other police officers. The hoodlums that trade at this deserted spot were known to always rob their victims both top and under the bridge ranging from bag snatching and forcible snatching of valuables, and at times stabbing their victims if they didn’t cooperate.

Stanley was eating at Star Restaurant when he received call from Nigeria Police Force, telling him of a lady that had been stabbed by hoodlums because she failed to cooperate. According to the distress caller, she was standing looking for a motorcycle that would bring her to Galadima roundabout, and why waiting for the motorcycle, the hoodlums in ripped jeans tried to snatch her bag from her but she resisted them. In the process one of them stabbed her in her stomach.

But before Stanley and his team reached, the hoodlums had already taken advantage of the cashew plantation and tick vegetation around the road as escape route, and leaving her in her own pool of blood. After the woman was brought to the hospital, Stanley and his team entered the cashew plantation hoping to find trace of the hoodlums.  They searched all over but didn’t find them, and as they were about turning back to their patrol cars, Stanley received a call from Chisom to save her best friend who was in danger.
