‘Thanks to your friend, Jessica is now in a mess because of your stupid friend,’Julia said coldly to Chisom when Jessica walked into her car.
‘My friend didn’t do anything,’Chisom said, holding back her anger. ‘Jessica will be Michael’s wife soon. Not even you can stop it…so for the sake of GOD, you should step out and explain to the entire world that the mess was created by your friend.’
‘Admitting that Chioma was responsible for the mess is just like admitting that there is no love story between Michael and Chioma. You know the truth, so don’t act as if you don’t know. Maybe, you’re hoping that Jessica will like you or maybe make you her friend, I want to bluntly tell you that though you’ve been touched by angel, that doesn’t mean you have the blessing of an angel…Excuse me.’Chisom turned and walked away to attend to the customers.
Jessica felt like she was stabbed in the chest by a knife. She couldn’t believe what had just happened. The twinges of pain swept in wave by wave, forcing her slap her hands at the innocent steering wheel. She was obviously venting out her anger on it. She started to sob, not able to control the threatening tears.
After a
moment passed, she stopped crying, wiped her tears and started her car. She
would find a way to apologise, for the sake of her family business. But she
would find a way to make Chioma receive the pain she was feeling right now.
As Michael reached home, Edward blocked him at the entrance of the house. Michael handed his briefcase to Simon.
‘What did you do?’Edward spat out aggressively.
‘Oh, you have heard the news. I am glad you did.’Michael acted as though what he did was right. His face was full of pride. It seemed he wasn’t going to change his mind until Jessica apologises to Chioma.
‘Why did you do that to my friend’s company? What kind of hatred do you have for Jessica that made you do this?’Edward’s face was filled with anger.
Michael raised his head, his beautiful face cold and emotionless. ‘Dad, I did what I had to do. I promise you this, if Jessica doesn’t apologise to Chioma, then, I will forcefully acquire their company at a low price within a week, which will undoubtedly force the Nnaji family into a debt of hundred of billions or rather millions of naira. If I do that, the Nnaji family would automatically push themselves to death. I will also make sure that Emmanuel Nnaji is impeached… I have no problem with anyone…only those that cross the line.’
‘You speak to me as if I am not the chairman of Moon Corporation.’Edward was furious.
‘I can never hurt you.’
‘When you targeted Emmanuel’s business, you hurt me.’
‘Which
is why I gave Jessica the chance, for old time sake.’After he spoke, he turned
upstairs, leaving Edward standing on the spot dumbfounded.
