The Moment I Met You (Chapter 364)

 By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

Jessica knew that at this moment, the internet would be filled with congratulatory messages, especially from her fans. In other to make them write more about her, she located the best position in front of the camera before she said, ‘My fans, I really want to thank you all for believing in Michael and me. We promise to make you proud.’In front of the camera, Jessica smiled sweetly, happily answering the reporters’ questions.                                                                                                                              The internet was filled with cheers, and Jessica couldn’t help but beam in her victory as she elegantly left the stage. Not only did her fans congratulate her, also popular social media personality edited the recording into short clips and spread it around like wildfire. Immediately, the internet was filled with Michael and Jessica’s photos, spotted together, intimate with each other. The photos were photoshopped by experts which would make it difficult for anyone to notice it.

Jessica was beaming from ear to ear as she went over to her mother, embracing her. She was glad that the interview gathered over 90 million hits, as a lot of people became more interested in Michael and his relationship with Jessica. Also, over and over again Moon Corporation’s stocks skyrocketed as well as that of Nnaji group.

After Patricia and Edward saw the news, they rang Jessica to tell her how happy they are with the bold step she took to announce her relationship with Michael.

Sharon, who was driving to Aso Rock villa to pick Nathan who had attended a luncheon with Obinna, saw the news and her face darkened. She immediately reached for her phone and dialed Michael’s number. She couldn’t get through. Michael had put his phone on automatic voicemail, because he didn’t want to be bothered.

Felix had also sent Michael a Whatsapp message, ‘Chioma will certainly get mad about the news. Wish you clarify things with her. I am aware with the news, and thus doesn’t care of the lies Jessica have created. But I am worried of what Chioma would be thinking. Please, go over and explain everything to her once you reach the airport.’

At Star Restaurant, Dana sneered before walking over to Chioma, dressed in a bold yellow dress with a short hemline, her twin; Dara chose a lemon coat dress with white accessories.

‘Chioma, I know you’ve seen the news. If you want to survive here in Abuja, you better not be a hindrance to Michael and Jessica. Or else, Jessica will make you regret ever existing. You know how powerful her family is, right? So stay in within your limit.’

Like she had witnessed a joke, Chioma laughed gently. ‘Why would I be a hindrance? If Michael is truly in love with Jessica, I am sure he will marry her without looking at me.

‘Well, their engagement has been announced. Now you know that to young master Michael, you are like a puppy soaked in the rain. I advice you to find a puppy just like yourself. Stop dreaming big because that will never happen.’ Dana turned to leave as her lips curled into mockery.

Chioma turned as well, heading for the store-room. She knew that the two of them were worlds apart, and shouldn’t be in relationship. Michael should date a rich girl like him while she dates a poor man like her, she thought. Could it be that her relationship with Michael was one-sided? She wouldn’t know what to do if her thinking were true, was she capable of sustaining a one-sided love in silence. She loves Michael so much, there was no hesitation to her love for him because it had happened the moment she met him, no holding back, she had given him all her love by expressing them in a way Michael would understand.

She didn’t want to believe the news, but seeing it appear everywhere like wildfire she couldn’t help but admit it to herself. As she thought of Michael leaving her for Jessica, tears welled up in her eyes and streamed down uncontrollably. Very softly, in a voice barely audible, she said to the saved photo of Michael on her phone, ‘Michael, I have loved you the first time that I met you. I truly love you, and will always love and cherish you. I don’t want to believe the news of your engagement with Jessica…but…it seems to be in all the news. I do love you…I can’t do without you…’She took a long deep breath. ‘What is destined to come would come…’ she tried to console herself. ‘You will have to explain everything to me when you return, that way I will know the truth myself. I know you love me too. I could feel it strongly…’
