The Moment I Met You (Chapter 387)

Audrey was dressed to go to school, so she walked to the dining to grab a bite. She wore a coat dress with black trim. She paired the look with black tights and pumps. She also carried a small black clutch. Her books were already inside her car.                                                                     

  When she sat on a chair to eat, she saw Celine eating with one hand while she was tapping away on her phone.                                                       

Audrey reached for the glass of milk that was beside Celine, Celine saw Audrey take the glass, but didn’t raise her head to look at her.                      

‘I was hoping you could come with me to my school today. Since you are doing nothing at her,’Audrey suggested with a smile.                                     

Celine glanced over at Audrey and said, ‘I don’t want to go anywhere today,’ then, she looked back over at her phone. She swiped it twice and asked, ‘Have you seen the news?’                                                    

Audrey shook her head and looked at Celine in curiosity, moving closer to Celine’s phone. ‘What is so interesting about today’s news?’                 

After Audrey asked this, her phone began to ring. She furrowed her brows and pulled out her phone to see Celine’s Whatsapp message. It was the break-up announcement Chioma had made today.      

  As Audrey tapped open the message, she turned her head and stared curiosity at Celine’s beautiful side profile. ‘What is this, Celine?’                                              

Celine didn’t even say a word as she clicked open the Whatsapp group for her classmates that had graduated from Diamond Snow with her. In the group she posted; I might not like Chioma for breaking my brother’s heart but I am certain that she was compelled to do this. I won’t be surprised if Jessica is behind this.                                                             

Before Audrey could ask Celine when she sent her the message, a notification popped on her phone; I let Michael go…I am not good enough for him.’ The message was from the Whatsapp group chat she had created.                                                                                                             

‘What is really going on?’Audrey muttered and Celine shrugged.            

At this moment, Chioma received a call from Eva TV for an interview. She immediately, rose up from the bed, and went quickly to take her bath. She would have been happy if the interview was about her engagement to Michael. But no, it was about her break-up with him.         How painful it must be to tell the world she was breaking up with the man that she couldn’t live without.                                                                

This thought alone made her cry. For the interview, she selected a turquoise jacket and had a printed shift dress, white shoes and white handbag.                                                                                                                           ‘Mum…I have to go now,’Chioma said to Louisa when she came to the living room. Louisa was packing some stuff. It seemed they were leaving tonight for Lagos.                                                                                            

  Louisa turned to her and said, ‘May the LORD gives you the strength…’                                                                                                           

Chioma went to her mother and hugged her tightly. ‘I am doing this for our family…and neighbours,’she whispered, kissing Louisa’s forehead, she left.                                                                                                 

Louisa watched as Segun’s taxi slowly drove into the distance, her gaze fixated for a long time before she went back to what she was doing.
