Meanwhile at Njemanze Villa, Edward was at the courtyard after watering a few wisterias he had retrieved. Dressed in a thin t-shirt and casual soft cotton trousers, he walked close to the side of the stone table and sat down to drink the green tea a servant had brought for him. Lifting up the cup of green tea, he took a sip as he looked at the plants that were in the courtyard, which made him let out a smile of satisfaction.
Right at that moment, Patricia who was donning a casual yellow dress stepped into the courtyard. She smiled when she walked over to Edward. ‘Edward, have you seen the news of your son messing up the city of Lagos in his public display of affection with that slummy girl?’ She didn’t look appalled.
Edward turned around and said smilingly, ‘Oh, my wifey is here. Come, sit down.’
After sitting down beside Edward, she muttered, ‘I had thought that Chioma was a witch that was only after my son’s money.’
Edward smiled and shoved a plate of pastries before Patricia and said, ‘Try this. I’m sure it will help you stop being guilty for treating her badly.’
Patricia nodded as she took a piece of green bean pastry. She ate it and took another one from the plate.
‘I think we should start letting destiny decide the fate of those two,’ Edward said smilingly. ‘Anyway, fate has already decided that those two are meant for each other.’
Patricia smiled and took another pastry from the plate. ‘She has bewitched you as well,’ she laughed as she ate her pastry.
‘We can’t stop destiny.’
‘You need deliverance as well as your son,’ Patricia said with a chuckle. She opened her mouth to speak, but instead she stuffed her mouth with the pastry instead. Smiling, she sighed. ‘I treated Chioma wrongly. I think I need the deliverance more.’
Edward didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as he lifted his tea to his lips and took a sip of his green tea.
