The moment I met you (Chapter 58)

 By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

‘I received tips from other customers though not as huge as Audrey’s,’ Chioma said, slipping back into her chair.

‘Why did you spend so much? You could have saved the money.’

‘Mum, wear it. I need to see if the slippers will fit your feet,’ Chioma said with a smile.

Louisa bent down, and slipped the slippers onto her feet. Both Andrew and Chioma looked over.

‘Mum, the slippers looks good on you,’ Andrew praised.

‘I know but your sister shouldn’t have spent money on me. Today was her first day at work. She could have saved the money to buy a new dress or shoes for herself.’

Chioma walked over to her mother. ‘It’s not expensive. I saw a street vendor selling it, so I thought it will look good on you.’ Chioma held her mother’s shoulder and said gently.‘Do you like it, mum?’

Louisa nodded. ‘I do. But it’s expensive for someone like you.’ She had tears in her eyes.

‘Thank you for the tie, little sister. I will wear it with my new suit.’ Andrew was pleased and grateful.

Chioma smiled but didn’t say anything. She walked back to her chair.

After the family finished with their dinner, they went to bed.

On the other hand, in the home of the Njemanzes, Edward and Michael sat in the luxurious gardens talking about work and other related issues.
