The moment I met you (Chapter 65)

  By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

Jessica was about to respond when her gaze met the document Michael was flipping through with tenderness in his eye. She walked closer to take a look.

Who is that girl?’

Michael didn’t reply, he just glanced at her coolly, showing his lack of interest.

Jessica was annoyed with his attitude towards her. ‘Michael, you’re a man, why would you always ignore me?’

A cold smile appeared on Michael’s face as he retorted, ‘Because I have never loved you.’ He pointed at Chioma’s photo that was open before him. ‘It seems this girl in the photo has aroused my body that has been dead for years.’

Hearing his words, tears stole into Jessica’s eyes. ‘But I am your girlfriend. The whole world knows that we are a couple.’

‘Jessica, we are just acting. You’ve always been my rumoured fiancée. I just let the rumour pass without saying a word because we have been childhood friends. Stop turning friendship into relationship. Love doesn’t work that way, I just knew it few days ago,’ he sighed lightly. ‘Our episode has ended. Thank you for your time.’

‘Michael, what nonsense are you spouting?’ Jessica finally lost it.

‘Jessica, I am telling the truth.’

‘What truth? Your parents approve of me.’

‘You’re free to marry them.’

Jessica stared at the stoic-looking man before her in silence. She bit her lower lip as tears streamed than her face.

‘Look, you’re ruining your make-up,’ he said mockingly.
