The moment I met you (Chapter 85)

  By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

On the other side, Audrey sat back on her chair, with her Ipad in her hands, shopping for clothes online.

Chisom stood at the counter looking at Audrey with complicated emotions. She wondered why Audrey asked Chioma to collect her sister from school. Perhaps, she was planning something tricky against Chioma. With such thought, Chisom stood up from her seat and walked over to Audrey.

Showing a smile of ridicule, Chisom said, ‘My friend have become a joke to you, that’s right, we are poor and should be treated like trash. If you are done you might leave.’

‘Everyone gets angry sometimes. I forgive you,’ Audrey said not glancing up at Chisom.

‘You can leave.’

‘Who says I am leaving?’ Audrey laughed, took out a stick of chewing-gum from her pocket. ‘I won’t leave until Chioma comes back,’ she said, folding the stick into her mouth. ‘Do you have a problem with that?’ she looked at Chisom.

‘I don’t have a problem with that but we have limited seats and this restaurant isn’t for rich people like you.’

‘Oh, I see why you will remain poor,’ Audrey said mockingly. She blew out a little green chewing-gum bubble, and burst it with a pop.

‘You’re not allowed to make that sound in front of me,’ Chisom frowned, and unhappily waved her hand to stop Audrey.

Audrey turned a deaf eye to her, and got out another stick of chewing-gum, putting it in her mouth. ‘You’re acting as though I am smoking. Girl, you worry too much.’
