‘Your friend?’Daniel asked, passing her the menu. ‘I mean the lady you just met.’
‘Yup. She’s my course mate,’Audrey replied happily. ‘That guy with her is her boyfriend,’she explained. Audrey flipped the menu open. Seeing the price, she glanced up at Daniel. She didn’t want Daniel to fork out money he hardly earned. Using the menu to cover her face, she whispered, ‘Everything here is expensive.’
Audrey had such an easy life and could afford anything she wanted but right now she was with the man who was struggling to survive. So it was right to think of his financial situation. Was she been obviously concerned? Or perhaps, she was in love with him and couldn’t help but feel concern for him.
Daniel smiled. ‘It’s all right. Just order what you want.’
‘Isn’t this daylight robbery? I’m just ripping you off and it isn’t right. I don’t want to. Maybe we could just go.’
‘I know that this place is meant for the elite, and every one that went here to eat suya were rich folks who burn cash like it was paper,’ he paused. ‘But, I really want to treat you…so, please, don’t pity me. Grab whatever you want.’
Daniel waved at the waiter, he came over and Audrey ordered. In a few minutes, the waiter brought their plates.
‘Enjoy your beef suya.’The waiter smiled warmly.
Audrey looked at her plate of suya and felt warm inside. She was going to relish this because it came from Daniel whom she loves so much.
‘What about drinks? Daniel reminded her.
‘I will have to flip through the menu again,’Audrey pouted.
‘No need of searching, just order a drink.’
‘Milk tea will be okay.’
The waiter brought two glasses of milk tea. Picking up her milk tea, Audrey drank a mouthful.
