‘Dad, you’re a civilised man, so I guess you should use your words wisely. My girlfriend isn’t a vixen bitch. She would soon become a part of this family.’
‘Over my dead body!’
‘Don’t say it too loud, mum. It might come to pass.’
‘What did you say?’Edward frowned at what Michael said.
‘Dad, mum, you aren’t deaf.
I’m glad you both heard me clearly.’
‘There’s no way I would recognise that poor lowly woman of yours as my daughter-in-law. Her presence in this family will stain the family name.’
‘Then
get ready to buy hyppo to wipe clean
every day, because soon you’ll have to be a cleaner, bumping into Chioma and
wiping clean until you get tired and give up.’ Michael’s
mouth lifted in an icy smile.
‘You need to be careful with your choice of words,’Edward looked at Michael and said.
‘I’ll bring Chioma to come and see you both any moment. Aunty Isabelle is right, I need to bring Chioma home. Make preparation for it,’Michael said peacefully, then, turned to leave.
‘That crappy girl will never become my daughter-in-law,’Patricia huffed as Michael walked upstairs.
Half a month went by, and Audrey took three days off from school in account of her event. It was her birthday, so her parents suggested she had a good rest before the birthday proper.
Chioma knew that Felix would be at his sister’s birthday party, so to avoid bumping into him, she decided not to go. However, Audrey decided to invite Chioma in person. And if Chioma had really made up her mind not to attend, then she would have to say that to her face, instead of declining not to come by sending her a message on Whatsapp.
Audrey was going to visit Chioma at her house and invite her. She requested for the address and Chioma sent it to her via Whatsapp.
