The moment I met you (Chapter 207)

 By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

‘Rich folks are a bunch of complicated people,’said Leonard.

Daniel almost finished his rice, and then he took the cup of achara tea in front of him and stirred it with a spoon, and said, ‘Audrey won’t hurt my feelings.’

‘What if she does?’Chisom took a spoonful of rice and put it into her mouth. The rice hadn’t cost Chisom a lot of time to cook, but it was delicious and garnished.

‘She won’t.’Daniel seemed to trust Audrey so much that he felt she wouldn’t turn her back on him.

‘Will Chioma be going for the birthday?’Beatrice asked Chisom, refilling her glass of water.

The rice was so delicious that Chisom nodded slightly, and said unclearly from her throat, ‘Yes.’

‘Audrey is yet to turn eighteen and she was allowed to drive?’Leonard said more to himself.

‘Dad, laws are made for poor folks, not obviously for the rich. Once you become rich the laws will be lifted for you…’Chisom analysised.

‘Here in Nigeria, the minimum age for admission into universities or any other higher institutions of learning is sixteen years, but Audrey is already in level 300…laws are made for the poor,’Chisom shrugged.

The following day, Chioma wore a green dress with a pair of black flats to work. When she arrived at Star Restaurant, she noticed that the entrance of the restaurant was covered in red roses. She wondered who had done this. She would admit that the rows and rows of roses which she speculated could be several thousands, looked romantic, but then, who had the guts to do this without prior notice to Emeka Ndubuisi who was the boss of the restaurant. At least, if it was a proposal she would have heard about it. The roses were scattered beautifully all around.
