The moment I met you (Chapter 256)

By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

After a moment, she said in a low voice, ‘If possible, I hope that you don’t hurt yourself, for him.’

Jessica wanted to speak but she found herself swallowing the words she wanted to say. She placed the bags on a table. ‘I would never forgive Chioma for snatching Michael from me,’Jessica coldly said.

‘What about Nathan, have you considered him?’

‘I love Michael. He’s the man of my dreams…’ Jessica said, heading for the bathroom to remove her makeup.

‘Is he worthy of you?’Sharon asked, following Jessica to the bathroom. ‘Yes, he is every woman’s dream, but do you need to ruin your life for someone that hates the likes of you?’

‘I don’t care!’

‘You don’t care about the humiliation you receive from him?’ Sharon glanced at her Dior sleek black mini dress, and her matching pumps. Then, she looked up at her face, painted with makeup. She knew that Jessica had dressed up for Michael. But unfortunately, Michael seemed not to notice her. ‘Jess, you made up for him, but you ended up being worthless. You wore a luxury brand to meet him, but the dress ended up being like an ordinary street clothes. You even bought him food, but he saw it as poison. You wore the highest perfume, but to him you stink like ogiri. You’re very beautiful, but he sees you as the ugliest woman in the world…’

‘Enough! Stop it!’ Jessica wiped off the tears from her eyes. ‘Sometimes I wonder if you are really the daughter of the president. You act so cheap.’

Sharon didn’t listen to Jessica as she continued to speak, trying to talk sense into Jessica. ‘You knew him since you were children, but he sees you as a stranger,’ she paused, then said after a moment of silence as she looked at her reflection in the large mirror. ‘The first time Michael had met Chioma, he fell in love with her. She was wearing cheap clothes, but Michael saw them as brand clothes made from heaven. For her, Michael is willing to give up his entire fortune. She has nothing in her wallet yet Michael loves her. But you have thick wad of cash in any of the luxury wallet you carry yet Michael would never love you. He can shop the whole mall for Chioma but he can’t do it for you. Chioma might not be able to afford the cheapest item in the mall but she can afford to work hand-in-hand with Michael, and that’s because Michael loves her very much.’ She looked back at Jessica whose face kept streaming with tears. ‘Maybe you feel that with money you will have the right to love Michael, but then, your dream was nothing but an unattainable dream… from the moment, Michael fell in love with Chioma he is determined to protect her… stop mistreating yourself …my brother loves you unconditionally, embrace him instead.’
