The Moment I Met You (Chapter 375)

 By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

On the other hand, Robert reached Chioma’s house in the truck he had hired from the shopping mall. The truck was heaped so high that ropes were used to tie down all the goods piled onto it. It was filled to overflowing.

Robert jumped off the truck while Louisa stared in wonder. ‘Did you miss your address?’ Louisa asked.

Robert shook his head. ‘Sir Michael asked me to bring them. He went shopping for Chioma.’

‘Looks like you brought most of Abuja with you,’ Louisa said.                    Robert smiled as he began to untie the ropes. ‘Sir Michael had purchased everything from Abuja that you might want.’

‘What about human heads?’ Andrew joked when he came outside.

Without turning, Robert replied. ‘It will be here soon.’

‘Your head will be needed first,’ Andrew joked.

As the men began to carry the load into the house, Louisa went to the kitchen to make coffee. She wondered who in their right mind would empty a mall, just like Michael had done.

Just as they finished carrying the loads inside, Louisa brought three mugs of coffee and set them in the living room centre table. She made sure that Robert didn’t object to drink the coffee. Now they all sat down with steaming mugs of hot coffee, Robert took a sip and nodded with satisfaction.

Meanwhile, Jessica was resting at home in the lounge of their big mansion while eating fruits as well as enjoying the discussion of her lies to the people that Michael had proposed to her. The discussion hit number one. On top of that, she received photos from her fans of her and Michael together. Some even made a portrait for them. Jessica laughed happily, thinking that Chioma had been pushed to the point where she couldn’t fight back except to break her relationship with Michael- this thought completely satisfied Jessica’s hatred. She wanted Chioma to have a taste of what it was like to steal Michael from her. This was only one of the consequences, Jessica thought. The worst was yet to come. She couldn’t stop herself from laughing.

‘Madam, after this heated incident, I’m sure Michael will come running into your arms,’one of her maids flattered as she messaged her shoulders.

‘Of course! I have to prepare myself as Michael’s bride!’Jessica smiled confidently, her confidence was due to the fact that Michael was supposedly her childhood friend and so would have no choice than to marry her. At this moment, Rebecca appeared at the entrance all of a sudden holding a few samples of wedding gowns pictures for Jessica to choose from.

‘Privacy,’Rebecca said and all the maids bowed and left Jessica and Rebecca alone. ‘Although Michael hadn’t said anything yet we need to still choose your wedding dress because he will make you his bride soon. You are the best woman for Michael, everyone knows this.’

After hearing these words, Jessica’s smile grew even larger. However, just as the two were conversing happily, Jessica suddenly received a phone call. At first, she had a smile plastered across her face, but afterwards, the smile varnished, ‘Jessica, how you could announce your relationship with Michael when there was nothing between you two?’   Sharon asked with deeper meaning.

‘Are you tired of being single, why not look for a second generation heir and marry him immediately. After all, your father is the president of this country, ‘Jessica said mockingly.

‘With the way you are acting, I feel that you haven’t seen the news, right? I am your best friend, but right now I want to say that I am extremely ashamed of you…you can search for the latest news, I know you would cry your eyes out.’ With that, Sharon hung up the phone angrily.

‘What happened?’Rebecca asked.

‘Sharon just told me that there is viral news,’Jessica said as she searched the latest viral news. The news was already popping into her phone as notifications so she clicked on one of the video of Michael and Chioma in Wuse Market getting intimate; the kissing, the proposal, the romantic view of the whole thing was like an erupting volcano on Jessica’s head. This wasn’t just a photo, it was a video! It was a video that everyone could see and recognize that it was Michael and Chioma.

Jessica was too stunned that she dropped the phone onto the floor. ‘He did not only empty the mall for that witch, he treated her like a golden egg. Something Michael hasn’t done for me before.’

‘Who actually is this Chioma that is trying to go against my daughter?’Rebecca was furious when she saw the hot tears in Jessica’s eyes.

‘Mum, I feel like everything is over…everything is over…’Jessica was heartbroken.

‘I am here to help you,’Rebecca consoled Jessica. ‘Mum’s here so don’t you panic. I will fix this.’

Jessica couldn’t help but imagine the tenderness and love in Michael’s eyes when proposing to Chioma. It seemed that no matter what she does to make Michael hers, she would still end up losing to the slummy girl. An intense wave of jealousy surged within her. ‘Why! Why is that slummy girl so lucky to have Michael! Mum, I have never felt hatred towards the heavens before…until that slummy girl appeared from nowhere. Why is my fate so pathetic and Chioma’s so perfect. Mum, it’s not fair, right?’

The more Jessica thought about it, the worse she felt, and her tears couldn’t be held back as they rushed out like waterfall. Seeing her break into tears, Rebecca felt tears steal into her own eyes. ‘I will help you through this,’ Rebecca promised.
