The Moment I Met You (Chapter 449)

 By Nightengale Ben-Onyeukwu

Chisom hooked arms with Andrew as they went to their table to eat. Her mouth began watering upon seeing the food on the table. There were about twenty different dishes, all delicately made. There were seafood, soup and other delicacies at the table. Each table had two buckets of KFC chicken, plus other mouth watering dishes.

Chisom sat down, reaching for her bucket of crispy fried chicken, and about to take a bite, Julia suddenly walked up to them in a red gown. She held up the wine glass in her hand and smiled at Andrew. ‘Fake brother-in-law to young master Michael, I would like to thank you for bringing your sister to this event to cause trouble for Jessica, and thank you for not being ashamed of yourself, thank you for being a free loader,’ she chuckled. ‘Allow me to make a toast to you,’ she said as she drank the entire glass of wine.

Andrew quietly looked at Julia with a smile of ridicule on his face. ‘You’re welcome; you are a capable woman and deserve to be a slave girl than a friend of Jessica. That’s why I thought you’d be able to unleash your potential as a maid. To tell you the truth, you’ve come across a rare opportunity that other girls in your status don’t usually get. Therefore…I will hire you to be a maid at my slummy house.’ Andrew smiled as he took a sip of his champagne.

Julia bit on her lips, feeling angry. She had wanted to humiliate Andrew and make him leave with Chioma and Chisom; since she thought that with Andrew’s poor status he wouldn’t say or do anything in front of these rich and influencial people present.

But to her surprise, Andrew’s remarks were even sharper than her own, leaving her feeling more embarrassed and annoyed.

‘You’re not qualified to hire me,’ Julia said furiously.

‘You’re right. People like you can’t even be counted as variables in life. You are at most passerby…But hey, since you’re here, I’m sure that you’ll receive your own gift.  I heard that the company will be giving laptops, cameras, phones, watches, luxury bags…As a free loader, you should wait behind,’ Andrew snorted. ‘In the story of Michael and Chioma, Jessica is the supporting lead who fell in love with the male protagonist, but what are you?’

‘I am a head-turner. No matter what script I have, I would always be the first thing that people will notice,’ Julia said proudly.

Then, Nathan walked over to them. Julia felt that she was too lucky to have Nathan stand beside her. Many would call it a scene out of an idol drama, but Andrew couldn’t stop smiling at Julia’s stupidity.

‘Did you see Sharon?’ Nathan asked Andrew, completely ignoring Julia.

‘I saw her with some friends,’ Julia said.

Nathan smiled. Julia became very happy when she saw the soft smile on Nathan’s face as she gleefully imagined how he felt towards her. However, Nathan went past her and called out in a gentle voice, ‘Sharon…’

Julia’s face darkened. Her face that was beaming delightedly fell apart like a smashed mirror.

‘You were flaunting yourself as a head-turner,’ Andrew said mockingly to Julia when Nathan left. ‘But Nathan ignoring you was practically a slap to your face. Of course you’re upset. Extremely upset.’ Andrew curled his lips mockingly, put his hands together in a praying gesture as he said mockingly to Julia, ‘I am sorry, Nathan was worried about Sharon and didn’t see you.’

After being humiliated by Andrew, Julia turned to leave. She felt that if she stayed longer, things would get even uglier. So, she quickly walked away.

‘Julia’s really interesting,’ Chisom laughed. ‘She wants Nathan for herself and so she’s doing everything possible to achieve that.’

‘She will never succeed. Nathan will never take a glance at her.’

Chisom picked up a napkin and wiped off the corner of her lips as she said, ‘If she continues like this, she might end up getting nothing in the end…she thinks that women who aren’t manipulative will never become the queen.’

‘She’s not my business…I have found my woman and you’re the one. You’re more than enough, and I will never take a glance at any other woman.’

Chisom smiled in satisfaction upon hearing what he said.
